BeeTalk Review April 2024

BeeTalk is only available as a mobile app. And because of its extensive range of features, navigating through the app needs some getting used to. The newsfeed function of the app is called ‘Videos’ since BeeTalk advocates more on video sharing. You can view your friends’ videos, as well as the top or recent videos uploaded that are approximate to your location.

There is also a ‘Discover’ tab where you can explore the latest post uploads of people around your area. The Discover tab also has different forum categories, a thread where you can introduce yourself or post your most recent selfies, a gamers lounge, and several more threads started by BeeTalk where users are allowed to contribute their own photos, inputs, and ideas.

Reading through BeeTalk’s page, before even downloading the app, I was surprised with the with the extent of features that they offer. “This looks promising,” was what I said. So I downloaded it and signed up using my mobile number. I didn’t initially complete my profile—didn’t put a profile photo and didn’t add my phone contacts—my profile was blank. As a 26-year old caucasian male, I just wanted to see if somebody would notice me before I even show my face. Some dating apps have bots and fake profiles that message you even with an incomplete profile. In BeeTalk, I was completely ignored. Scrolling through the search features of BeeTalk, all which were location-based, I found most profiles of ladies showing some skin and their profiles suggest that they were game for something casual. I added some contacts but didn’t get my request approved. Until the third day, when I finally put a face in my profile, requests that I sent that day were approved. I even got messages asking about what I do and where I’m from. One conversation led to a woman asking me to meet up with her. She said she was nearby and was willing to do anything just so she could pay her rent this month! I didn’t push through with it because I wasn’t really into that.

Overall, I could say that BeeTalk could really get you what you want, as its search features are highly based on your current location. They mostly suggest contacts that are nearby. The only downside I believe is that BeeTalk is not really so popular in the United Kingdom so not many people are active in using it.

Design and Usability

The app’s design uses only the brand colours of BeeTalk which are yellow and black. With regards to usability and navigation, finding the different features of the app need some finding. The app interface only displays 5 tab icons which are Look Around, Video, Chat, Discover, and My Profile. The tab name would only be displayed when you click on the icon. To find the Radar and Flip feature, you would need to click on the menu located at the upper right-hand side of the Look Around tab.

BeeTalk was built to combine several features of popular social media and dating apps into one fully-functioning and convenient app. All features of BeeTalk are free for all members to use.

Clubs are built by fellow users—they usually advocate a certain interest or activity. Clubs have a maximum number of members, and it is the administrator of the group’s discretion if he or she wants

Look Around and Radar are two different features of BeeTalk, but they serve almost the same function. Look Around shows you contact suggestions that are approximate to your area. Radar, on the other hand, suggests users who are even closer to where you exactly are.

Flip is a roulette-type of contact suggestions. If you fancy a user and swipe right and that user also liked your profile using the Flip feature, your names would automatically go in each other’s contact list.

Whisper mode is a feature found in your chat box. You have the option to set how many seconds you want (from 1-15s) your sent messages to delete itself. Whisper mode also has end-to-end message encryption.

Several threads found in the Discovery tab are initiated by BeeTalk. Threads such as ‘Introduce Yourself’ and ‘Selfie’ are two of the most popular. There are also several forum chat rooms which any user can join and ask or answer questions.
