Happn in Review

There are two easy ways to create your account with Happn. You may link it to your Facebook account or register through your mobile number. With just a few information, you will be able to sign up.

These include your name, date of birth, and gender. Other data about your work, education and a description of yourself will also be asked but are not required. Before you can proceed, you will need to identify whether you want to cross paths with men, women or both.

After creating your account, you may already use your account's full functionality. Unlike other dating apps, Happn does not hold new accounts for verification and approval.

Happn shows your matches based on the proximity and preferences you have set. Unlike other apps, Happn does not have a search function. Instead, it shows your matches based on the identified criteria– proximity and preferences of the user.

For security purposes, you can only send likes to other members. You may not message them unless they also send you a 'like'. This ensures that members only get to chat with people that they are interested in. Once two members send a like to each other, those members get a "crush" which is similar to a match.

To shorten the process, you can view other members who sent you a 'like'. In that case, you may get a "crush" and send a message instantly. This can be availed through a premium subscription.

'Hello' is another feature to connect with other members. Unlike the Like function, Hello is not a secret action. A member can send a Hello to anyone that appears on their timeline and let them know that they want to start a conversation. It also has a new video call feature that is free to use as long as you don't exceed using it for five minutes.

There is not much to see on a member's profile. Happn will only show a few information– your picture, name, age, gender, work and education, last active date, distance and a description of yourself. If you purchase a premium, you will be able to hide some of this information. You may upload up to nine photos to your account directly or by syncing your photos from your Facebook or Instagram account.

Providing useful information and photos that reflect your personality and interests are helpful for other members to know you more, and probably, like you. Unlike Tinder, which makes use of the swipe function, Happn does not require members to decide whether to like your match or not immediately. Other users have the chance to browse your profile first, so make sure you have a good one.

Although the app does not verify accounts, which makes ultimately leads to higher risk of running into fake accounts, users are allowed to report or block suspicious accounts for their privacy and safety.

Happn app finds users matches based on the provided preference and location. You can let other users know what you are up to by posting status updates on your profile. It is a free feature that you can use anytime. You may indicate whether you want to grab a bite, get a drink, catch a movie, go out, go for a walk or run.

On the other hand, the dating app has several paid features that you can also enjoy. You may know who liked your profile and send one back to get instant crush. You may also change your settings to “Invisibility Mode” to let you hide your account from other members on your chosen time. Once you activate this feature, your location will be turned off and you will not cross path with anyone in Happn.

Happn coins will be available for purchase after subscribing to premium. You will also get 10 Hellos per day automatically once you subscribe. These are credited to your account– 5 Hellos in every 12 hours. However, these Hellos do not add up and will be lost if you fail to use them within 12 hours.
